There may well be things that bother us every day, causing stress and taking away our peace of mind. We try and fight it, try and change things, and try our best to cope with situations. However, there is something else we may want to try; remind ourselves of three simple and yet powerful words that may change our outlook and quality of life – ‘let it be.’
For years, we may have been trying to change someone’s behavior and get them to see our point of view and understand our feelings. And yet, we may well find nothing has changed. Let it be.
We can do much for many, and even though we don’t do it for the appreciation or praise, our efforts and support are often taken for granted, but criticism comes quickly. Let it be.
We work really hard to achieve what we set out to do, and yet we find one challenge after another coming our way, often slowing us down and sometimes making us want to give it up. Life starts weighing on us. Let it be.
Some decisions, though made in best judgement go wrong, and we find ourselves with financial setbacks that are not so easy to handle. Let it be.
Something said or done unintentionally creates a huge misunderstanding, and someone takes offence, straining a beautiful relationship built over years. Let it be.
Something we really wanted in life, and were so close to getting, slips away, leaving us heartbroken. Let it be.
‘Let it be’ is not being defeatist, nor does it come from a non-caring attitude. It comes from accepting things that are not in our control, and recognising that by holding onto hurt feelings, we compromise our ability to achieve lasting happiness. It teaches us to see people and situations for what they are and not the way we want them to be. It doesn’t take away our spirit of setting things right and making a difference; it takes away the stress, anxiety, and disappointment when the result doesn’t go our way. It is not from resignation, but from strength that we can live with this attitude.
The beautiful words from the famous Beatles song come as a wonderful reminder:
And in my hour of darkness She (Mother Mary) is standing right in front of me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be
And when the night is cloudy there is still a light that shines on me
Shinin’ until tomorrow, let it be

Straight to the ❤️- just Fab!
This write-up really made me pause. It felt calming and comforting—a simple reminder to let it be, something we so often forget in our daily struggles. Sometimes we just need to hear it from someone else to truly feel it.
Superb reflection Vivek!
