One of the things that we don’t understand is why we go through some experiences in life. Often, we have looked back and realised that we have come out stronger and moved in a better direction. And yet, every time we face a challenge or crisis, we lose faith and start doubting life. It will serve us well to reflect on why things happen the way they do.
Life is not random; there are principles at play. Just because we sometimes don’t understand them, does not mean they don’t exist. The pattern of life reveals itself over time, and as we look back, we start recognising the silver linings in the darkest clouds we went through, and the disguised blessings in our moments of crisis. We need to remember that things happen for a purpose.
The purpose is not always gaining something externally; sometimes, we go through experiences for our inner growth. Just as fire purifies gold and fire tempers steel, we need to remember that life sends us situations to build our inner character and strength.
Life also tests our strength in prosperity. Often, we get blessed unexpectedly, and our attitude and behavior determines the next phase in our life. The larger the tree, the greater the shade; we need to remember that sometimes we get blessed to become the blessing in someone else’s life.
And life takes its twists and turns, not by accident, though it may seem so, but by design. A flower needs to perish for a fruit to be born. We need to remember that if life is changing the course of our life, it is the fruit of what we need next.
And as we look back on our own personal journey and recount the numerous times we complained and asked ‘why me?’ only to later discover and see sense in why things happened, we will realise the fundamental truth of life – things don’t happen to us, they happen for us.
