The Power Of Positivity

Mar 2, 2021 | awareness, optimism | 1 comment

Positivity is a frame of mind that comes from a fundamental belief that things can work out well and that there is no reason to always think of the worst. Positivity is not overconfidence. It is not the arrogance of claiming that things will go our way because we will it so. It is the optimism we carry even in uncertainty.

It comes from seeing setbacks as stepping stones; the understanding that twists and turns in life often come as disguised opportunities.

It comes from faith that right action and right intent lead to desirable consequences. The timing may not be in our control and we may have to wait patiently, but the cause-effect law of life does not let us down.

It comes from having a sense of purpose. The drive to make a difference allows us to see opportunities and solutions where others see hopelessness and defeat.

It comes from consistent self-application. When preparation combines with dedication, positivity flourishes.

It comes from knowledge. When we understand the meaning and purpose of life, we realise there is no other way to be but positive.

It comes from being centred. When we start discovering the wisdom, joy and love within, we realise that we were not born to be negative. It does not mean that we will not face challenging situations; it means our attitude will not be determined by our successes and setbacks.

It comes from seeing the goodness in situations and people. This can be tough when we are challenged by very difficult people in our life. Positivity is seeing their value in helping us develop and smoothen our own rough edges.

It comes from gratitude. Recently I read a beautiful thing; when asked if the glass was half full or half empty, the answer was that I am grateful that I have a glass. Positivity is recognising that being alive is a gift.

It is easy to be cheerful and positive when things are going well for us. Positivity is seeing opportunity in adversity, gratitude in pain, and growth in our struggle. It is not looking for light in a dark tunnel, but lighting up the tunnel itself.
