Purpose

It is our duty to be happy. Joy is not an accidental emotion we stumble upon from time to time. It is the core of our being, our true nature.

Living a purposeful life unleashes the creativity, focus, enthusiasm and energy within, putting us in a joyful mood. It is not the fleeting happiness with gaining something whether material or appreciation. It is a shift in our level of consciousness driven by an inspiring purpose.

But sometimes we feel we don’t know what our purpose is. It’s not that we don’t have it, it’s just that we haven’t explored it. Purpose is the driving motivation that propels us into action. It answers to the question “why” am I doing what I’m engaged in. It is the reason behind our action.

We must guard from getting habituated in living life mechanically. Boredom and negativity creeps in not because we’re doing the wrong things but we are going through the motions without being mindful of the purpose in our actions. Being purposeful doesn’t mean being serious all the time. Even relaxing and having fun is a purposeful activity.

Having a purpose creates impact. It’s not the size of the impact in the world that matters, it’s the size of our purpose within us. We must find the purpose in everything we do, be it cooking a meal, caring for someone, building a company, going for a walk, developing the next invention, managing the country, writing an article or just being there for someone who needs us.

Purpose brings extraordinary flavour to our ordinary actions. We don’t need to find happiness, we are Joy in our true nature. We just need to find our Purpose.

  3. What is most important is that EACH ONE of us has a purpose to fulfill in life. Each one can fulfill a purpose that is only unique to them and it should be our endeavour to find that purpose in life and live joyfully with God’s Grace. Thank you for the article Vivek.

  5. So true, Vivek. If one has a home, some love, some money in the bank, a vocation, any talent, one really has no right to be upset. We all forget that, sometimes.

    • At the highest level there needs to be no why. Joy exists, we need not find it. We need to purify our minds to allow it to reflect that Joy. Purpose inspires us to keep the mind single pointed and focused, preparing the mind to reflect the Higher in us. And you are right, in that state the why drops.
