A balanced life is a well lived life. The five main aspects of our life are Family, Work, Relationships, Community outreach and Personal development. These five buckets have a very interesting way of functioning. Each bucket needs to be nourished. Well filled buckets are our strengths and emptying buckets put pressure on us.
Just because a bucket is full doesn’t mean it will remain forever. If ignored it will empty out and become a strain. How often we’ve been in good health, well placed with our money and relationships to see our strengths became a strain when we ignored filling these buckets.
These buckets are all interconnected. When we’re under pressure in one aspect of life, the other aspects help us pull through. But if several buckets are empty we find ourselves unable to cope with the situation.
The family bucket and our personal health bucket is heavier than others. If things at home are not okay, no matter how wealthy or successful we may be or how respected and popular in society, we will always feel an emptiness within. And if our health fails, we find ourselves unable to face challenges, fulfil our duties and even enjoy the very things we’ve worked so hard for.
We must reflect and understand each of these buckets in our life carefully. Be honest which ones do we give more value to and which ones are we neglecting.
Sometimes we overvalue the money bucket at the cost of our health, family and relationships. Sometimes we take our family bucket for granted just because they’re family. We sometimes forget to include those in the community in our prosperity, in whose life we can make a difference. Very often we forget our inner development bucket and keep wondering why we’re not happy in spite of having much.
Our true wealth is not our bank balance. It’s our life balance.
So true and beautifully explained!
Vivek , well thought of the various aspects of like and the importance of Balancing each aspect and as well explained buckets .
Agreed Sunish
Very nicely articulated….
For me it is the relationships through all the other 4 buckets that will define our balance in life. If one is able to manage a fulfilling relationship at home, work, with society and above all with one’s self, he will by default achieve balance in life.
Keep writing Vivek. Look forward to your pearls of wisdom everyday.
God bless!
Ajay you are right, it is the relationship through all the other 4 buckets. In essence life is one seamless whole, it just helps to have the bucket construct to ensure we’re well balanced.
Beautiful Thoughts and very well articulated. .THE ESSENCE & GIST OF LIVING LIFE ..Thanks Jumana for sharing. Stay blessed and keep shining..

Vivek, the 5 buckets importance and meaning well explained. Yes you have put the gist of life in very simple way . Most important the BALANCE of all.
Thanks for the comments guys.
What I’ve also benefitted from is filling 2-3 buckets simultaneously , for eg:- Involving friends and family in community work, Gita study classes with friends and family, running with a friends group.
This has significantly helped my time management as well and strengthened my relationships.
Your thoughts are inspirational and sould searching Viv,.
