We Need To Be There For Each Other

A school once decided that the toys in their kindergarten section would be heavy enough that a single child would not be able to lift them. This taught the children to collaborate with each other and pool in their efforts. At a young age, they learned that a load that is difficult to lift individually is easily managed collectively.

In the classroom of life, some of us are fortunate to be able to carry our load with relative ease. We may have worked hard to reach where we are and be blessed in more ways than one. The essence of life is not how easy it is for us, but how easily we allow ourselves to be there for someone else to help them lift their load.

We need to be there for each other. It is not a favour we do someone when we help them, in fact, we strengthen our own sense of gratitude and responsibility when we realise life has favoured us in so many ways.

It is not the comfort of our security, but our willingness and ability to step out of our comfort zone to make ourselves available that will define us.

There will be some who will share their joys and successes with us, we must celebrate in their happiness, feeling their joy as ours. And there will be those who may share their challenges and pain with us. When we equally partake of their burden and feel their pain as ours, we not only lift their spirit, we find the depth of our compassion as well.

There are times in life when we don’t need to wait to be asked. When we realise what someone is going through, our sense of care needs to overpower any hesitation we feel in reaching out and doing the best we can.

It is only when the bow stretches itself fully will the arrow find its mark. No matter how stretched we feel managing our own situation, we can always do that extra bit to help someone manage their situation. And collectively, we can go through the toughest situations in life, if we are there for each other.
