There are lessons we all need to learn in life. Experiences we go through are nothing but learnings for our own growth and development. We tend to focus on the emotion around the experience and sometimes forget to learn our lesson. Not only do we find ourselves facing similar situations, but it also seems like we are going around in circles and not moving ahead in life.
On looking back, we will realise it need not be that way if we are conscious and aware of how we go through the changing situations in our life.
When things go wrong, as they sometimes will, our ability to be reflective and completely honest with ourselves can give us insights into how to manage similar situations in future.
When we sense a growing tension and address the underlying cause in its infancy, we save ourselves much anguish and stress, and prevent a potentially explosive situation in the future.
When we take stock of our life and evaluate the relationships and responsibilities that we carry, we may well discover that there are areas we are neglecting. These will one day come back to hurt us if not attended to in time.
In good times when we live with responsibility, we find ourselves capable of facing an unexpected situation. But if we are overindulgent, non-caring, and irresponsible when things are going our way, we really cannot blame life when we find ourselves caught on the wrong foot in a crisis.
When we make it a habit of continually assessing our decisions and their impact, we not only learn more about the world and its unpredictability, we start recognising our own thought patterns and stubborn preferences which sometimes keep us from making better decisions.
When we learn from the experiences of others around us, we can well save ourselves from repeating the same mistakes. We don’t have to play with fire to know how dangerous it is when we have seen someone else getting badly burnt.
Every day is a learning day. When we approach life as a learning, we find ourselves managing even in a crisis. When we don’t respect the learnings in our experiences, the teacher doesn’t give up. It’s just that some lessons we learn the hard way.
