Recently a friend shared a very thought-provoking story. The Director asked a business group where the richest land in the world was. Someone said the oil rich Gulf states. Another one mentioned the diamond mines in South Africa. The Director said it was the cemetery. Buried there are millions of valuable ideas that did not come to light nor benefit others.
The value we create is not the brilliance we take to the grave, but living out the best in us every day, every moment.
If we have an idea and it resonates with us internally, let the fear of failing never hold us back. Our biggest failing will be not having explored the exciting unknown.
If we set ourselves a goal, we must work with tireless self-effort to achieve it. Let us never hold back fulfilling a dream for want of discipline, devotion and dedication.
If we find compassion, let us never hold back and hesitate to reach out and help someone. Good intent with no action does not change the world.
If we have knowledge, let us never hold back in sharing it. The biggest tragedy of our life will be if our knowledge dies with us. Imagine if Newton, Einstein and Pythagoras had decided to keep their knowledge to themselves. We live fully when we share completely.
If we love someone, let us never hold back in expressing it. There is never a better time than today, for we don’t know what tomorrow brings us.
Life is not meant to be lived with hesitation, doubt, and fear; these hold us back. When we look back on life, our wealth and value will not be how much we have, but how much we emptied ourselves of the best we had to offer. And we can only do that if we don’t hold back.
