Each day is special. But when we are restricted in our movement, not only do we feel confined physically but mentally as well. The things we could normally do may not be available to us any more. We get bogged down and wonder how could tough days like these be special.

Each day will be special when we realise the biggest gift each day gives us. Time. The way we spend our time every day, makes the day special.

Time to learn. Being an eternal student keeps us young, grounded and mentally active. Learning things we have wanted to for a long time, makes our day special.

Time to read. We have always complained there is much reading to catch up on. Catching up on our reading makes our day special.

Time for our music. Songs and tunes that lift our spirit and bring back memories, makes the day special.

Time for catching up with old friends. Rekindling conversations and connections is special.

Time for our personal interests. Exercising, playing chess, writing, listening to a podcast, watching an interesting play or serial. Doing whatever we enjoy, makes it a special day.

Time for being inspired. Hearing or reading things that lift our mood and having positive conversations that leaves us with an inspiring thought makes the day special.

Time for love. Caring for those we can care for and making someone else’s day special. It could be a conversation, or cooking a meal or helping with something. Expressing our love makes it special for us as well.

A good chef cooks up a great meal even with simple ingredients. It’s the enthusiasm and love with which he cooks for someone that makes it special. When we start loving the fact that we have the blessing of time and get out of bed each day, with the enthusiasm of doing something that we enjoy and making it a special day for someone else, at the end of our day, we will realise the simple truth. Each day is, and can be made special.

And we must make each day special, because today is never coming back.
