No matter how intelligent and talented we are, it is always healthy to have influences in our life that draw our attention to the blind spots we live with. Our biggest blunder would be to assume we know best and don’t need any external help.
We can act on areas we are aware of that need attention. But what about those we are unaware about. And we don’t even know they exist. The fact is we don’t know what we don’t know. Living with these blind spots is not an option. So what will help us unfold the wonder that lies hidden even from ourselves.
Our true friends are those who can honestly tell us where we are going wrong, without fear of losing the relationship. They are also the one’s who shine the light to a talent and strength we have which we could not see for ourselves.
During deep reflection and times of silence, we are guided by new and sometimes surprising thoughts hinting at something we had never considered. Our faith in our inner voice gives us the courage to not only change what we need to, but also take a step in a direction we may otherwise not have considered.
Patient self application in everything we do peels off layers in our personality and brings to our conscious awareness the hidden and unknown. And this unfoldment is our self unfoldment.
And on the path of knowledge, through books and discussions, we start understanding the world and ourselves better. Our blind spots start becoming clear.
These blind spots are the unmined gems in our life. Not only do they add value but can transform us. And when we approach life as a discovery, we start looking for these hidden gems with enthusiasm, for each blind spot is a stepping stone for us.
But we will only be able transform ourselves when we approach life with openness and humility, accepting the fact that we don’t know what we don’t know.
Thank you Vivek for your openness and your humility in sharing these words.
