Love is our true nature. Our compassion, abundance and service flows from it. Love is a frequency people can sense, even when they don’t know us. We become like a tuning fork – when others are with us, the love in them starts resonating.
It has the power to open people’s minds through opening their heart. I remember when our tax refund was stuck, I met the Inspector who was expecting something. And I said to him-‘we are not running a business, we are trying to build a nation. The taxes we generate, through you will reach the villages to build infrastructure and schools so that our children can get a chance to move ahead in life.’ Interestingly he apologised for his demand, started sharing all the charity he was doing and in a month we received our refund. I realised it was not my strength that won over his strength. It was love for the country that touched his heart and changed his attitude.
And yet sometimes it is difficult to express our love, especially when we have been wronged and hurt. And we get confused as to how can we carry love for someone who has hurt us. It is not easy. We must reject any wrong doing, but at a fundamental level we must remember, we are rejecting the action, not the person.
General Smuts who was the administrator of South Africa and Gandhi were adversaries. In Pietermaritzburg prison Gandhi made a pair of sandals for him. Smuts wore them every summer and when Gandhi turned seventy, he returned them as a gesture of friendship. When we don’t forget the humanness in us, don’t succumb to ego, hate and anger, we keep love intact.
And those closest to us can hurt us the most. And we are torn between our love and anger. In silence when we reflect we will realise, they too are hurting having hurt us. I am reminded of the beautiful words – ‘Love me the most when I deserve it the least, because that’s when I need it the most.’
And if we have ever wondered who the wealthiest and most powerful person in the world is, it is the one who has truly learnt to always live with Love.
Lovely photo. Where was it taken. Love.
Thank you !
‘Love me the most when I deserve it the least, because that’s when I need it the most.’
