Not only do we live in a fast-changing world externally, but there are also changes in us, some of which we are aware of and some that creep in without us realising it. Often what seemed like smooth sailing suddenly becomes uphill, and we find ourselves struggling when earlier we lived quite effortlessly. When we reflect on it, we may well find that it is the combination of the external and inner changes that have taken place, and the time has come to realign ourselves. This realignment is stepping back and hitting the reset button.
A good captain always consults his compass and course corrects when he realises that he is off-course. When we find that the goals we had set can no longer be achieved by doing the same thing we have been trying for a long time, we need to chart a new course and reset our direction.
Sometimes the direction is right, but we find that circumstances have changed. When the wind changes, a good sailor realigns his sails. We too need to sense the changing situation and reset our way of doing things.
Often we lose interest and find ourselves simply lacking motivation. What enthused us in the past may no longer energise us. And yet we know we are on the right path but are no longer feeling the joy and thrill we once felt. We often forget that as we evolve, our purpose too needs to evolve. We need to find a deeper meaning and purpose in everything we do and reset our inner motivation and inspiration.
Life is never set in a manner where we feel we are done permanently. Very often just as we feel fully settled, something comes our way to unsettle us. When we find ourselves thrown out of gear, we don’t need to get upset. We need to just remind ourselves that it is time to hit the reset button.
