There are times in life when we surprise even ourselves, responding to situations with a capacity beyond what even we imagined ourselves capable of. It is then that we realise that limitations are in our mind; the unlimited reservoir of untapped potential and strength is yet to be discovered.
Often our first reaction when faced with a crisis is that we will not be able to handle it. And yet, as time progresses, something within changes, almost as if a subtle unknown power has taken over and is operating through us. When things settle down and we reflect on how we went through the situation, we realise that we always had the power of resilience and endurance in us, it just took a crisis for it to express itself.
There are times we are treated unfairly and even with disrespect. When our first flush of anger stays too long it starts bothering us because our inner harmony and balance get disturbed. As time passes by, we often surprise ourselves by responding with goodness, not because we are weak, but because we anchor ourselves to something stronger within. It takes tremendous strength to display goodness in the face of adversity.
When we find ourselves truly committing our life to the pursuit of something, we also start realising that somehow we are overcoming obstacles and opposition in a manner that surprises even us. It is not that we are getting lucky, it is the power of love for a purpose that expresses itself larger than any perceived problem.
Calm water carries the invisible power of steam. When life fires us up with a crisis, passion, or a situation that visibly shakes us and all seems lost, it is then we need to remind ourselves that life is not punishing us, but is calling on us to tap into, discover, and express the invisible power within.
