The state of our mind determines the quality of our life. Over the years, not only have we become aware of this fact, we have also made efforts to manage our emotions and thought flow. Sometimes we succeed, and sometimes we find ourselves fighting a losing battle against the fury within. We can significantly change the way we think and live if we understand, assimilate and regularly remind ourselves of two aspects of our mind; the mind is a magnet, and the mind is a boomerang.
We can physically see a magnet attracting metal, which is why we believe in magnetism. We don’t realise it, but our mind beyond being a flow of thoughts, it too carries a force of attraction. We start attracting things we constantly think of. If we truly and deeply want to achieve something, and we apply our mind to it, in a strange way people and events come into our life to help us achieve it. And if we are constantly fearful of things, always second-guessing the worst, we go through experiences and challenges, often wondering why they are coming our way.
This realisation puts an immense responsibility on where our mind is going, but at the same time on deeper reflection, this aspect fills us with faith and confidence that we also have the power to keep the positivity high and attract things in life we truly aspire.
And at the same time, the mind is a boomerang. What we throw out there through our thoughts, comes back to us as a consequence. Sometimes the time lag between our thinking and what comes our way hides this principle of causality. But on deeper reflection, we will realise that it exists. When our motives are impure and we feel we have gotten away with a negative emotion just because no one from the outside can see our thoughts, we are fooling ourselves.
Like a boomerang, once a thought is released, it is already pregnant with the consequence which will come back to us. This understanding helps fill us with awareness and alertness so that we prevent hurting ourselves, even as we think we may be hurting others, and at the same time, it inspires us to keep doing good and sending positivity in everything we do.
When we sit back and struggle with wanting to change things in our life, it will serve us well to remember that we need to use the inner magnet and boomerang effectively. When we change what we ask for, and are careful with what thoughts we are feeling and sending out, we will find our life starts changing.
The inner magnet and boomerang can be tools for creation, or weapons of destruction. The choice is ours.
