The flute is an extraordinary musical instrument, capable of melody even though empty within. Even as we are constantly striving to fill our lives with many things, if we reflect on this one aspect, there is much for us to learn and adapt in our own lives.
When we empty ourselves of our ego, we start living with greater compassion, humility, and gratitude. Not only do we realise the contribution of others in our success, but we also develop the ability to see the hidden reason behind the ups and downs in life we go through.
When we empty ourselves of our insistence that life has to turn out exactly the way we want, we start living with less stress and greater acceptance. We stop resisting what comes our way and learn to apply ourselves fully in dealing with it in the best possible way.
When we empty ourselves of our past baggage, we start living lighter and with a sense of inner freedom. We learn to enjoy our experiences and relationships for what they are, and we develop the ability to make the most of every moment we get.
When we empty ourselves of the negativity that rears its ugly head and creeps in from time to time, we start living with a newfound joy and enthusiasm, springing from the purity within.
Over the years, there is much we have collected which we need to empty out. In our quiet time, we will know what we need to work on, but we will only be successful if we understand a simple truth of life – we can be instrumental in building a wonderful life for ourselves and others if we learn to empty ourselves like a flute, living like an instrument and allowing the higher in us create melody through us.
