Why Wait

Mar 12, 2021 | growing | 1 comment

Often we find ourselves waiting to do something and before we know it time slips by. It’s not that we are actively evaluating options, or deliberately waiting for an opportune time. Sometimes we just don’t get down to doing things we know we should.

If we have a good idea, why wait? The true value of an idea is when it is converted to reality. If we keep waiting, we may lose out to others who may well have similar thoughts.

If we remember someone we have not connected with for a long time, why wait? Life is all about people and relationships. The more we reach out, the more we enrich our lives.

If there are things on our to-do list to complete, why wait? Making lists does not mean it’s done. When things pile up, sub-consciously it starts bothering us and starts affecting our productivity and peace of mind.

If we have decided to make changes in our life, why wait? The faster we get on with a healthier lifestyle, the better we feel about ourselves and better will be our relationships.

If an opportunity presents itself, why wait? It doesn’t mean we rush into things. Of course we must evaluate our options, but by waiting we risk that the opportunity will pass us by, causing much regret when we look back in life.

If we have always thought of doing something, why wait? Exploring life and testing our own limits can not only make life much more enjoyable, but it can also give us invaluable insights and learnings which enhance the quality of our life.

If we see someone who needs help and support, why wait? Our willingness and ability to gracefully reach out without being asked can make a huge difference to someone’s life.

If we truly love someone and want to show our affection, why wait? We were not born for suppressing ourselves. And we never want to regret the fact that by the time we decided to express ourselves, it was too late.

There is value in being patient and assessing the situation. There are times we need to wait it out a bit. But when we are clear in our mind and feel the strong conviction of doing something, waiting becomes wasting; of time and opportunities. Nobody knows what tomorrow will bring. We have the vital today to live our life fully. Why wait?

  1. Again wonderfully put. I just miss my favourite word, namely procrastination. If you wait too long, everything piles up and it becomes a burden. Start with small steps, one after the other in the right direction.
