Life is a flow. We move from one experience to another, one place to another. Our ability to move on keeps us happy, energetic and enthusiastic. But sometimes we feel something is holding us back.We find it hard to move on.
We start enjoying something so much that even when we’ve outgrown it, we hold on to it. Attachments hold us back.
Broken relationships are always difficult and sometimes scar us. The painful experience often stays with us and we keep re-living it in our minds. We don’t let go of the past. Emotional baggage holds us back.
We are very good at planning but often find we don’t achieve our plans. Mid-way we find ourselves distracted and soon our life is filled with unfulfilled dreams. Lack of focus holds us back.
Life brings up opportunities but also tests our faith. We need to take risks and enter the unknown but our comfort zone holds us back.
Others around us may seemingly be doing better than us. That may not be true because each one is going through their share of challenges. What is seen may not be the entire picture. But our tendency to compare our life with those around us creates a dissatisfaction and sometimes low self esteem. Comparing ourselves to others and feeling small holds us back.
Or we get steeped in our way of thinking. The world and people are changing but sometimes we refuse to acknowledge our need to change. Fixed ideas and a closed mind holds us back.
But we were born free spirited to soar. Our wings of freedom and joy are our true strength. And let the wind beneath our wings be the positive attitude of taking life in our stride, embracing change and moving on. We are capable of surprising even ourselves.
Nothing should hold us back.
