I was marvelling at the quality of water. It has the ability to take the shape of any container without losing it’s essence.
Life calls on us to do the same . We are thrown into different situations and need to adapt to them, responding adequately. Sometimes the doubt creeps in that if we are too adaptable and accommodating, isn’t it a sign of weakness. On the contrary.
It takes great inner strength to adapt. When we are secure within and confident of who we are, we adapt easily without losing ourselves.
Our strong practical intellect helps us adjust , knowing that it is the right thing to do under the circumstances . Adjusting doesn’t always mean compromising.
But does it mean that like water, we should always take the shape of the container. Should we not strive to change the situation.
If there is deep conviction, confidence and clarity, we absolutely must. For it’s the same water that also flows as the river charting its own course, negotiating the rocks and mountains and finding a way forward. And the same water that is the powerful ocean, itself containing so much.
Whether it be the humility and intelligence to take the shape when needed, the confidence and courage to chart our own course or the vastness of our power, let us never lose our true nature and learn to be ourselves.
Our strength will come not from our rigidity but our fluidity.
Again a wonderful blog. Thank you. When i think of water, i think about what beautiful things water can create, such as canyons, gorges, caves. It has the power but also the endurance. It just flows every day. And then with the help of man made things, it creates electric energy.
Beautifully said. We need to adapt without losing our essence.
Water carries no scars…
Thank you Vivek – Our strength will come not from our rigidity but our fluidity. The flow will keep us in sync and will allow to navigate through life.
‘The best, like water, benefit all and do not compete,’ wrote Lao Tse.
‘They dwell in lowly spot that everyone else scorns, putting others before themselves,they find themselves in the foremost place…
In personal relationships they love kindness;
In their words, they love truth;
In the world, they love peace;
In action, they love choosing the right time. It is because they do not compete with others
that they are beyond the reproach of the world.’
Thanks so much for sharing this Mike !
