Each Present moment is precious. The sum total of all our moments, sums up our life.
It is very easy to live in the past – reliving the great times that we had as also revisiting the mistakes made and constantly regretting why we didn’t make different choices.
We can live in the future – anxiously hoping things will be fine and our ambitions fulfilled. Neither the past nor the future can shape our lives. The only thing we truly have is this very moment.
Regret of the past, attachment to old memories, and anxiety of the future robs us of the opportunity of truly transforming our lives by being fully present in the here and now.
If we can bring our mind to be constantly aware of living in the vital present, working with focus and single-pointed dedication in a spirit of service and self-forgetfulness, no challenge will be too great to overcome, no goal too high to achieve. Just as a laser cuts through steel, our ability to focus and laserise our minds makes it extremely powerful.
And we reduce the mistakes we make when we are absent minded or pre-occupied with other things. Trying to do multiple things at the same time, thinking we can steal time, is fooling ourselves. One thing at a time, but done in a manner so well that we don’t have to revisit it.
The future is carved in the precious present. Let us always be mindful of that.
I’m reminded of the words of a great master – “ Let your mind be where your hands are”. To be ever-present in the Present.

absolutely beautiful
the thought & the pictures
“The future is carved in the precious moment” says it all!
Beautifully conveyed.
Fab, Vivek! As always!!
Reminds me of this amazing lesson from KungFuPanda “Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That is why it is called Present”
And if I may add, each one’s presence in another’s life, is a present!
So rue Vivek !
When we are facing a low in Life it all seems like
“Life Is No-Where !”
But as a little pause or a space in between changes everything in so many ways we can change our perspective with just one little space by saying “Life Is Now Here !”
That’s such a lovely perspective Zarin !
Truely a beautiful article.
