Role models inspire us. We look up to and admire people in society who have excelled and achieved in their respective fields. It motivates us to strive harder and we sometimes secretly wish we too could be like them.
I was reflecting on the fact that some of the strongest role models can be those who are part of our lives at home, work and in society but we’ve probably never reflected on their greatness.
It could be a domestic help, widowed at a young age who has been working tirelessly for years to see her children educated and well placed in good jobs.
Or a staff who has served the company for 40 years displaying trust and commitment of the highest level.
Or a teacher who trained us to become what we are.
A friend or family member who unconditionally gives and is always there for everyone.
Or a running buddy who overcame physical limitations and ran a full marathon.
We must acknowledge public figures who have achieved. They deserve it. But let our inspiration not be drawn just from popularity.
There is much to learn from and be inspired by people in our life. The ordinary people in our life can be extraordinary Role Models.
Also, it becomes our duty to become a role model for those whose life we influence
You and Rashida are one of mine
True. It is said – Be careful how you live your life, you may be the only book somebody reads.
Well stated. Some of the greatest influences in my life have come from the unexpected.
Can’t agree more Vivek.
Very nice !
The gift of being believed in, by a role model, is of immeasurable value. This is something I have experienced and tried to emulate.
So true, Vivek ….we so easily miss the ordinary and get carried away by all the hype and gloss
We all need to be “alert” and “awake” to realise so many role models are there all around us…
And the greatest role model for us all – Nature
Well put Vipul
