Goodness

Goodness is our essence. This is apparent in the fact that we get stressed breaking the law and doing something undesirable. Goodness doesn’t stress us because that’s our True nature.

Goodness triggers goodness. I am reminded of an experience with a corrupt tax official wanting a bribe to process our refund. I went and met him and explained that as a business we are trying to do our bit to build the country. Taxes generated will go to children in villages who will have access to electricity, water, roads, education and health services giving them an opportunity to move ahead in life like him and me. Which is why we pay all our taxes and needed his understanding.

Something very interesting happened. This corrupt official started sharing all the charity he does. He apologised and processed our refund in thirty days.

We often underestimate the power of goodness.

It triggers goodness in others and finds creative solutions in difficult situations.

It changes the way people behave when the goodness in them is stirred.

It builds trust, reflecting the higher principles in us which others recognise through our goodness. It fosters relationships and collaborations. It breeds innovation once the Higher in us flows through our goodness.

It builds our character, being good in spite of others behaving in an undesirable manner.

Our goodness is like a tuning fork. It has a wavelength. And it starts triggering the same wavelength in others. And even though we sometimes doubt it, the wavelength exists in everyone. Sometimes it takes longer but once they resonate, things change.

But we wonder why so much evil and negativity exists and grows . Is it that it’s more powerful than being good ? Absolutely not. Our goodness stems from that Infinite within which is all Powerful. It’s just that when we don’t live with the conviction of goodness, we allow negativity to flourish.

There’s only one way overcome the axis of evil. By building the nexus of Good.

  3. So true

    Do good be good

    I believe in this theory.

It’s however disturbing when negative people often get an upper hand.

  5. Well put!
I’m also telling my kids “be good for goodness sake. Be good even when nobody is watching.
It’s interesting that this is not a passive thing but an active process. In attempting to be good there is a requirement to be aware of your negativity and brush it aside on a regular basis. It requires maintenance like weeding a garden…
