Worrying

Jun 5, 2020 | moods | 12 comments

Worrying is one of the most unnecessary, unproductive and useless emotion to have.
Because of our deep care and love we get concerned. We need to drop the worry attached to the love.

Worrying belongs to the future, so no point.

Worry doesn’t better the situation, so no point.

Worry compromises our ability to act, so no point.

Our worry shadows on people around us, the very people we love and care so deeply for, so no point.

Worry comes from a deep seated need for security and safety. Our knowledge of life and it’s Universal laws gives us a better understanding. Knowledge dispels worry.

Our attachments make us worry. Worried we will lose what is precious to us. But nothing lasts forever and nothing will remain forever.
We much accept life. Acceptance displaces worry.

We worry because we don’t have faith. Faith that Life takes care of us and if things aren’t working out it’s because we’re being tested. Faith removes worry.

We can only fully enjoy life in the now. When we worry, we live in the future and deny ourselves the chance to live a full life. Love for life and living in the now dissolves our worry.

When we don’t worry it doesn’t mean we don’t care. It only means we love and care so deeply that we won’t let worry come in the way of giving our best.

  2. True, but worry has become part of our nature. We feel that if we dont worry we will not perform and get to results. Without worrying we will take things easy and lightly. But still as you say surely doesn’t help.

  3. Worrying does not help as you rightly said Vivek ! But many a times worrying and concern get mixed up by us. Concern is the empathy & compassion towards our near & dear ones which sometimes spirals out of control becoming a “worry” and worrying only ruins the present.

  6. Nice sentiments Vivek and challenging. Unusually, I awoke yesterday at 4 in the morning having dreamt that my family were dying of Covid-19 and I was panicking and on the edge of despair. As an optimist, I was shocked by my dream, but realised that this was a gift – to help me understand what some live with every day; crippling worry.
Abandoning worry would be incredible for those who have high levels of ‘trait anxiety’ – but knowing some who have, this is not like removing a coat at the door, but more like removing your skin; one of the largest organs we have. For them it is important that we try to reduce the external stressors, to help find a way to experience less worry…

  7. Thanks for this Vivek,
As with most things there are two angles. One is this one where the answer is faith. The other is that worry can be an indikator for something that I need listen to. This is where worry can be a good warning sign.
I have several times in life been consumed by worry and it has in fact helped me to look more deeply into why and then discovered that there is Something not right and I need to deal with or change.
There is also a massive difference between worry and anxiety which can be clinical and needs to be recognised and treated with a lot of care and empathy.

    • Vivek, the description of worry, there causes and differentiation with empathy & compassion is so well exemplified in the discussions/ comments above.

Knowing well that worrying is worthless, I can’t not worry!!

Continuing with worry, I try and sleep with the satisfaction of acknowledging the fact that i am worried, and have made my efforts to manage the cause of worry, and then leave the result to the 3rd power to give me next ambition of worry!!!

This game continues and makes me satisfied that I can manage my worries…. it’s easier to aim to not worry, but to me it’s my fuel to grow!

  9. Dear Vivek ,
Worry can be looked as tool for human survival. There are many manifestations of worry . Concern , fear , empathy, success, pity, love ,aspirations etc are all manifestation of worry . If you remove “worry” life ceases. Much can be talked about this . Over a coffee at Starbucks 😀. Much
    Love and respect
